Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced major relief for motorcycle owners and riders across the province.

The Chief Minister has introduced the procedure for availing petrol subsidy for motorcycle users. Owners can obtain information regarding the subsidy through a helpline number or the “Maryam Ki Raye” app.

The announcement was made by the Chief Minister in a message on social media and is being widely seen as a significant relief measure, especially for youth and the middle class.

The Punjab government has introduced several facilities and special packages for motorcyclists during April and May 2026, aimed at providing economic relief to citizens and improving compliance with traffic laws.

In addition, the provincial government has also announced the abolition of motorcycle registration and transfer charges, which will directly benefit motorcycle owners across the province.

Under the scheme launched on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, significant relief is being provided on motorcycle transfers, along with petrol subsidies for riders. Officials said the Excise Department has so far released over Rs670 million in subsidies.

The government says the initiative aims to facilitate citizens and reduce the financial burden on motorcycle users.

Motorcycle fuel subsidy program extended until May 31

The government of Sindh earlier extended the Peoples Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Program until May 31 and directed the release of Rs2 billion for the initiative.

The decision was taken in a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where several key approvals were granted related to development projects, urban facilities, and administrative reforms.

During the briefing, it was revealed that more than 548,000 people have so far benefited from the program, with Rs1.096 billion already distributed.

According to the Sindh government spokesperson, the sales tax for motorcycle ride-hailing services has been reduced from 5% to 2%, providing relief to online drivers.

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs6.5 billion towards road rehabilitation in Karachi, which would facilitate the state to initiate road repairs within minutes and to release funds instantly.
