Salaried class earning up to Rs3 lakh may get tax relief in budget

Salaried class

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has forwarded a set of tax relief proposals for the salaried class to the Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif for consideration in the upcoming budget.

The proposals include reduced income tax rates for salaried individuals earning between Rs200,000 and Rs300,000 per month, a category that covers around 550,000 taxpayers.

They also suggest revisions for higher salary slabs, including possible changes to tax thresholds and rates for top earners.

The government and its coalition partner, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), have agreed to recommend to PM Shehbaz Sharif that the federal budget for fiscal year 2026-27 be presented on June 10.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with senior PPP leaders to discuss pre-budget consultations ahead of the federal budget.

“It was unanimously agreed to recommend to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif that the Budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 be announced on Wednesday, 10 June 2026,” the statement said.
