PCB to hold key meetings on friday and saturday

PCB key meetings

Key decisions for the future of the national cricket team are expected to be discussed at important Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) meetings on Friday and Saturday, sources said.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will hold a number of crucial meetings in the two-day period with the board discussing its cricketing structure and leadership setup.

A big decision is expected on the captaincy of the national Test team, sources said.

Salman Ali Agha is now a contender to replace Shan Masood as Test captain.

No official statement has been made so far, but there are talks of a major restructuring of the PCB that will involve a change of leadership.

The captaincy issue is not the only one that is likely to be discussed during the meetings.

Sources indicate it is likely that several key appointments will be completed at the meetings, with former Pakistan captains likely to feature prominently in the revamped setup.

Former captain Younis Khan is reportedly among the top options for the head coach position of the national Test team.

He also might become a part of the national selection committee and will play a pivotal role in developing the team and player selection.

Mohammad Hafeez, who played a key role as the former captain, is also being eyed for a big role in the PCB.

He could also be made Director of International Cricket, according to sources, and may be a part of the selection panel.

It is believed that Shan Masood and Test team coach Sarfaraz Ahmed can be replaced from their respective jobs.

Sarfaraz, however, is said to keep working with the Pakistan Shaheens. The PCB is yet to make any official announcement regarding the expected changes.
