The Lahore High Court issued a notice to the police on Tuesday, regarding the PUBG kidnapping case that had been registered against a man who allegedly married a woman after befriending her through the PUBG game. The Lahore high court sought a response at the next hearing while considering the accused’s post arrest bail petition.
The petition was heard by Justice Shahbaz Rizvi of the Lahore High Court. Advocate Adnan Kalyar appeared on behalf of the petitioner, Usman.
The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that the man and woman became friends through PUBG, and their friendship eventually led to a love marriage.
He argued that the woman’s parents were unhappy with the marriage, and they subsequently lodged a kidnapping case against the man.
According to the counsel, the woman’s parents pressured her into making a statement against her husband.
In addition to this, the allegations of kidnapping and rape included in the FIR are false and baseless, they add.
The court was further told that the petitioner has been in jail for the past five months. Therefore, his counsel requested the court to grant him bail.
After hearing the preliminary arguments, the court issued a notice to the police and directed it to submit a detailed reply at the next hearing. Further proceedings were adjourned.
