AJK govt announces Rs10 million reward for information leading to arrest of proscribed JAAC members

The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced a reward of Rs10 million for information that leads to the arrest of four wanted leaders of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).

According to an official notification, anyone who provides credible information resulting in the arrest of the suspects will receive the reward.

The authorities have also assured that the identity of the informer will be kept strictly confidential.

The individuals named in the notification are Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Umar Nazir Kashmiri, Mehran Arshad Khawaja, and Sardar Aman.

The AJK Home Department has further instructed the Inspector General of Police to immediately implement the reward scheme and to take steps to arrest the accused members.

Banned JAAC member quits group

Mirpur resident Ehsan Shabbir Shani has announced that he has ended all ties with the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), citing recent developments and violent activities carried out by the group.

In a video statement, Ehsan Shabbir said he had previously been an active and dedicated member of the organisation but decided to part ways after witnessing the group’s growing involvement in violent incidents.

He further stated that the organisation’s leadership was steering it in a direction with which he could no longer agree, making it impossible for him to remain associated with the group

Rawalakot incident

On 7 June, a disturbing and horrific video surfaced showing a violent attack by the banned JAAC protestors and the desecration of a body in Rawalakot involving AJK police personnel.

Members of the outlawed organisation, the JAAC, carried out a premeditated attack in CMH Rawalakot, according to the reports.

Reports say that they fired directly at the police and law enforcement agencies. The video shows a violent attack and the desecration of the body of a martyred police officer.
