Meera loses patience after being called ‘Psycho’ in viral interview

Pakistani showbiz veteran actress Meera expressed strong displeasure after being called a “psycho” during a recent interview. The actress urged Pakistani media and the public to show greater respect to artists.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, a host asked Meera about her new film, Psycho, and remarked, ‘You were a psycho before, you played the same role in the film too, and you still haven’t been able to come out of that role.’

Reacting to the comment, Meera interrupted the host and said that if artists are not given respect in their own country, people should remember that they receive a great deal of respect in India.

She said that it was completely wrong to claim that she had always been a psycho. She added that she had portrayed one of the most challenging roles of her career in the film.

Meera stated that she had expected audiences to appreciate her performance and also acknowledge the efforts of the film’s director, Shaan Shahid.

She further added that both had worked hard to produce such a difficult film while remaining in Pakistan.

The actress further explained that the film is based on the serious issue of depression and was intended to convey an important social message.

She said that viewers should try to learn from the character she portrayed rather than make personal remarks about her.

Psycho is a Pakistani film that was released in cinemas on Eid ul Azha 2026. The film features a star-studded cast including Shaan Shahid, Sonia Hussyn, Meera, Shabbir Jan and several other prominent actors.

Netizens react

Netizens seem to be largely agreeing with the actress, one said, “’Journalists, hosts should learn how to ask questions respectfully. Who gives them the right to humiliate or disrespect someone? They are actors/public figures, which doesn’t mean that someone has the right to say anything they want.’

Internet trolls Irshad Bhatti for getting ‘too personal’ with Meera

Previously, during the promotion of the same film, internet personality Irshad Bhatti asked Meera several questions about her personal life and alleged scandals, including her relationship with fellow actor Humayun Saeed.

He also brought up the controversy involving her, Captain Naveed, and Atiqur Rehman. He also questioned the funding behind a hospital that Meera claims is built in honour of her mother.

These personal questions made Meera visibly uncomfortable and awkward. She repeatedly clarified that she had come on the podcast to talk about her film Psycho. “I don’t know what you are saying. Just watch my film, Psycho. I am really excited for it,” she said.

As Bhatti continued asking such questions, Meera again emphasised, “Again, I made this film Psycho. Everyone should go see it.”

The podcast ended with Meera walking out of it. “We are very happy that you came to our set. I’m leaving,” she said calmly.

Later, Bhatti also responded to the controversy.
