Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said during his budget speech that a strong defence can contribute to economic strength and development. He stated that Pakistan’s image today is such that its voice is heard around the world, and that a robust defence is essential not only for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty but also for supporting economic growth.
He further said that the strategic agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is of great importance, adding that the world now recognises Pakistan’s defence capabilities. According to Aurangzeb, a strong defence remains vital for both national integrity and economic progress.
He also announced the defence budget, which will be Rs 3 trillion.
An estimated Rs3 trillion has been allocated for defence, while Rs1.091 trillion has been earmarked for subsidies.
According to the budget document, Rs1.071 trillion is estimated to be spent on civil government operations, while Rs430 billion has been allocated to deal with emergencies. Overall, current expenditures are estimated at Rs17.495 trillion.
