Xbox has recently stated that it is aware of a problem in Forza Horizon 6 that has caused some players to lose their save files.
In a message on the official Forza support page, the development team stated they are looking into an issue affecting certain players where their game save progress might be lost or reset.
While they investigate, they recommend that anyone who loses their save file should quickly submit a ticket on the Forza Support website. This will help the team look into the problem and increase the chances of recovering the save.
Players who lose their save should also refrain from starting a new game session or creating a new save until Forza Support has examined their situation to prevent further complications.
Xbox mentioned that updates are being developed to address these issues, and the PC version has already begun receiving fixes through the Gaming Services client.
How to protect your Forza Horizon 6 save files
The Forza Horizon 6 development team has shared the following tips to help protect save files:
- Make sure your Gaming Services app on PC or XBOX Series X/S console is fully updated.
- On XBOX Series X/S consoles, turn off Quick Resume for Forza Horizon 6.
- To disable Quick Resume for Forza Horizon 6, highlight the game box art in the console interface (Home, My Games & Apps, Pins, etc.), press the Menu button, then go to Manage game and add-ons > Quick Resume settings > Disable Quick Resume.
- Be online when you ‘quit’ the game.
- Allow your save time to sync to the cloud before turning off or switching devices.
- Avoid force quitting the game during save screens.
- Do not turn off the device while playing.
If you see an “Out of space” message with a game crash, it’s advised to check your storage and restart your console using the menu option or the XBOX controller button.
Players who frequently change devices, whether switching from one Xbox to another or between different PCs, should be cautious.
This is due to the additional uploading and downloading of save data from the cloud that is required in these cases.
