Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has just announced that a peace deal between Iran and the United States (US) is expected within 24 hours.
In a post on X, PM Sharif said, “We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. With finalisation likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the deal immediately after, followed by technical-level talks next week.”
He thanked the US and Iran for their commitment during the talks, and those in the region for their support.
“We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their ongoing commitment during the negotiations, and we extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in the region for their support. We are confident that this historic peace deal will form a strong foundation for lasting peace”, he added.

Earlier, the prime minister confirmed that “a final, agreed-upon text of the deal was reached, and added that Pakistan is working closely with both sides to finalise the next steps”.
Iran and US about the peace deal
Later, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said that “the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content”, adding that “The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer”.
On Thursday, President Trump cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran. He said that “discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved.”
The war began with US and Israeli strikes across Iran on February 28, prompting Iran to attack Israel and US-allied states in the Gulf, as well as effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a global oil crisis.
