Two arrested after stadium riot following Canada, Bosnia World Cup match

Two people were arrested for allegedly causing a riot inside the stadium after a FIFA World Cup match between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The match, held in Toronto, ended in a 1–1 draw between the host nation, Canada, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. A group of spectators reportedly became angry after the match ended without a decisive result.

According to reports, the group of fans caused a disturbance inside the stadium and attempted to assault a police officer who was on duty for security.

Police arrested two individuals at the stadium on charges of inciting a riot. The Toronto Police Service stated that the suspects are 25 and 27 years old and are from Germany. They are allegedly associated with a group of Bosnian supporters. Authorities have also filed additional charges against the suspects for assaulting a police officer.

Following the incident, the Toronto Police Association issued a warning to fans on social media. The message read: “We are glad you have come to enjoy the World Cup, but please do so safely. If you raise your hand against a police officer, you will be arrested and charged. Also, we do not even have a TV in custody, so you will not be able to watch the match you came for.”

It should be noted that Canada, one of the co-hosts of the World Cup, earned its first-ever point in World Cup history after this 1–1 draw.
