Police release details regarding security during Muharram

Islamabad police have formulated a comprehensive security plan during Muharram days, officially effective from Muharram 1st to Safar 19th.


According to the plan, more than 15000 police officials and rangers will perform their duties. The Islamabad police authorities confirmed that a total of 177 processions and 929 Muharram gatherings will occur in the federal capital.

For the safety of Muharram gatherings, the safe city control rooms will be installed in the city. The police officials and other relevant departments will monitor the movement of processions and other gatherings.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, will monitor the processions and gatherings in the federal capital, the private media outlet reported on Monday (today).

On the other hand, the department also formed ten vigilance teams to check how the police officials are performing their duties during Muharram days.

According to the security plan, all the DIGs, SSPs, and AIGs of Islamabad police will perform their duties in the different areas of the federal capital.
The police authorities also confirmed that the department is continuously doing search and combing operations to avoid any inconvenience in the city.

The authorities also confirmed that all the processions and Muharram gatherings are being monitored with the help of 3000 cameras. To make the traffic flow smooth, more than 500 traffic policemen are performing their duties in the federal capital, the police authorities added.

Islamabad police stated that all the security arrangements are being made to protect the citizens’ lives and property and to provide a comfortable environment during Muharram days.
