Pakistan will not remain passive if India attempts to stop or restrict water flows, describing any such move as an act of “water aggression”, according to security sources.
Speaking during a high-level security briefing with journalists, the official said Pakistan is fully aware of the steps it would take to safeguard its water interests and national security.
“If India tries to block Pakistan’s water, Pakistan knows what to do,” the official said, adding that the country’s armed forces, acting in line with public aspirations and government directives, would not hesitate to take necessary measures to prevent any attempt to impose water aggression on Pakistan.
Referring to threats of restricting water flows, the official dismissed such statements as intimidation tactics and maintained that Pakistan remains united and prepared to respond to any challenge affecting its water rights.
