Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) shifted from a protest movement to violent activities, raising concerns over law and order in parts of Azad Kashmir, the security officials said.
During a security briefing, officials said the government of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir consistently preferred dialogue and democratic engagement to resolve public issues.
They said the protest movement initially emerged from public grievances, and the state accepted several demands through negotiations, including a large portion of the charter demands in the early stages.
Officials added that remaining disputes, including the issue of reserved seats, were handled through constitutional and judicial channels, with courts affirming that such matters fall under legislative authority.
Security sources said authorities repeatedly urged the group to contest its political demands through the upcoming elections instead of continuing agitation.
They further claimed that recent developments in Rawalakot reflected organised attempts to create unrest, including violent incidents targeting law enforcement personnel and civilians.
