Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has announced the establishment of the PMYP China Secretariat in Beijing, the headquarter of Tangfeng International Education Group, which would help enhance the cooperation between Pakistan and China in the field of youth development, vocational training and employment.
It was announced during his visit to China, where he headed a high-level Pakistani delegation to “promote cooperation amongst educational and vocational institutions of both nations”.
Rana Mashhood met the senior officials of Guangdong Open University (Guangdong Polytechnic Institute) during the visit to make the follow-up assessment of work accomplished on the vocational education initiatives agreed upon during the recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China.
Addressing the Pakistan-China Youth Vocational Education Symposium, he stated that the new secretariat would act as a dedicated instrument for coordinating between Pakistan and China institutions with the aim of skills development, exchange of educational programs and jobs for the youth.
The chairman of PMYP also opened the Pakistan National Vocational Education Teachers Training Base jointly, which aims to enhance teacher training, improve the standards of technical education and provide better job opportunities by institution’s cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in academic and cultural exchange with the Chinese students and faculty, and visited the advanced engineering and vocational training laboratories to learn about China’s model of industry-oriented education and learning.
The delegation also met with the Beijing Guangda Boye Technology Development Co., Ltd. to discuss cooperation in new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies, staff training and vocational training programs related to the industry.
The delegation was introduced to the advanced training equipment for NEVs, research and development practices, and industrial uses by the Chinese officials. Both parties discussed possibilities for joint efforts on teacher training, curriculum development, technology transfer, and setting up specialised training centres in Pakistan.
The Chinese vocational training model was also discussed, and its suitability to be adopted in Pakistan’s emerging green technology and electric vehicle industry was discussed. skills training in battery technology, on-site intelligent manufacturing systems, and EV maintenance.
Both governments noted the need to launch vocational education projects, introduce modern training technologies and encourage knowledge sharing and cooperation between industry and academia at the end of the visit. They also agreed to further intensify talent exchange initiatives and cooperation in technical training and workforce development, emerging technologies and training, in the context of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
