Rainfall in several cities of Punjab has brought pleasant weather and eased the intensity of the ongoing heatwave, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in the coming days.
Lahore was again hit by the rain providing much respite from the heat. Sara-e-Alamgir received heavy rain that also significantly reduced temperatures with intermittent rainfall continuing in the area. The cooler weather was welcomed by residents after days of hot weather.
Thunder and rain were also recorded in Wazirabad and its neighbourhoods, whereas heavy rain in Kamoke brought down the temperature and overall weather conditions. A half-hour storm in Narowal caused rainwater to fill various parts of the city and roads to look like rivers.
In Gujranwala, rain was also observed and in Muridke and other surrounding areas, strong winds were associated with rain. Weather remained similar in Kharian, Shakargarh, Kartarpur, Azizabad, Chhamal and Nurkot, where continued rains brought relief from the heat.
Most districts of Balochistan are likely to experience hot and dry weather conditions with very high temperatures likely in central areas of the province, the PMD said. But, it will be raining in Sherani, Musa Khel, Kohlu, Barkhan, Khuzdar and its adjoining areas.
The heat wave maximum temperature of 38°C was recorded in Quetta, 33°C in Kalat, 26°C in Ziarat, 35°C in Zhob, 47°C in Sibi and 41°C in Turbat while more than 40°C was recorded in all other towns and cities of the province.
