Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, on Thursday expressed grief over the recent death of the brother of former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Akhtar.
He sent his condolences to Shoaib Akhtar and his family during this difficult time.
PM Shehbaz Sharif further extended prayers for the deceased’s soul in Jannah.
In a statement issued by the PM office, he shared, “May Allah Almighty grant the deceased a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous. Ameen.”
Earlier, the fastest bowler in the world, Shoaib Akhtar, announced the death of his elder brother on June 23.
In his post on X, formerly known as Twitter, he shared, “I am very saddened to share that my beloved older brother, Shahid Akhtar, has returned to Allah Subhana wa Taala.”
The former cricketer then prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the departed and asked supporters to remember him in their prayers.
After the announcement, fans, former players and members of Pakistan’s sporting community expressed their condolences to the family and paid tribute to the deceased.
PM expresses gratitude for Qatar’s role in Islamabad peace deal
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif recently held a telephonic conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, on Wednesday.
PM Shehbaz Sharif also thanked Qatar’s Amir for his support in the historic Islamabad peace deal. He invited the Amir of the State of Qatar to visit Pakistan.
In response, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani accepted the invitation and confirmed his visit to Pakistan at the end of this year.
PM Shehbaz also wrote on X, “Had a warm and most cordial telephone conversation with my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, this afternoon.”
