Football player Hector Bello pays tribute to wife who died in Venezuela earthquakes

Football player and defender for Venezuela’s professional team, Hector Bello recently shared that his wife died while saving their daughter during the recent earthquakes in Venezuela.

His daughter was later admitted in a hospital in Caracas.

In an Instagram post, he said, “I’ll tell her the story of how you saved her, my love, how you gave your own life for our daughter, how you were a brave woman who never abandoned her, even as you took your last breaths.”

“My daughter and her aunt are doing well, they won’t be discharged today – they’re staying at the hospital. Thank you so much for supporting me through this immense pain.”

He also shared while completely heartbroken over his wife’s death, “How do I explain to your daughter that you lost your life to save hers, and that I wasn’t there to do anything? How do I explain it? Give me strength now.”

Devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake hits Venezuela

Earlier, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 struck at 18:04 local time (22:04 GMT), 23 km south-east of Yumare in Venezuela.

The second 7.5-magnitude quake hit in a similar location just 38 seconds later, which caused untold damage to homes and buildings in several parts of the country.

The states of Trujillo, Yaracuy, Carabobo, Aragua, and Miranda remain the most affected.

It is important to note that there is a 37 percent probability of 10,000 to 100,000 deaths.

According to the United Nations’ migration agency, nearly 7 million people could ​be affected.
