The interior ministry ordered authorities, including police and law enforcement agencies, to launch a crackdown on Afghan citizens across Pakistan who do not have a valid visa, the private media outlet reported on Monday.
The ministry issued a letter on July 28, instructing authorities and law enforcement agencies from four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan to ensure the arrest of all Afghan citizens without a valid visa.
The ministry stated that “with effect from 10 July, 2026, any Afghan national found residing in Pakistan without a valid visa shall be arrested immediately.”
The ministry also directed authorities to submit a daily report starting July 11, detailing the number of Afghan nationals found without valid visas, the action taken against them, and their current status.
The government issued the directive on Sunday, a day after a deadly attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi, in which three Rangers personnel were martyred, and four others were injured.
