The Punjab government carried out a major administrative and police reshuffle in Rawalpindi, replacing several senior officials, including the commissioner, deputy commissioner, city police officer (CPO), chief traffic officer, and key revenue officers.
Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak and Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema have been transferred and directed to report to the Services and General Administration Department. Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir, previously serving as Deputy Commissioner of Faisalabad, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi.
The government also transferred Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Captain (Retd) Sheheryar Sherazi, replacing him with Captain (Retd) Tayyab Sami Khan. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Saddar Hakim Khan has been replaced by Muhammad Akhter, who previously served as Assistant Commissioner Kot Momin.
In the police department, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani has been transferred to the Central Police Office in Lahore, while Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has been appointed as the new CPO Rawalpindi.
The reshuffle marks the first time that nearly all key administrative and police positions in Rawalpindi Division have been changed simultaneously, from the commissioner down to the assistant commissioner level.
According to sources, the changes may be linked to issues concerning land use along the Rawalpindi Ring Road and changes involving district revenue officials associated with the project. However, the government has not officially disclosed the reason behind the large-scale transfers.
