Quetta: Four killed at tourist point, victims’ families stage sit-in

Quetta tourist point incident

The sit-in protests by the families of four people killed in an armed attack close to the tourist area of Hanna, near Quetta, has continued on Airport Road with demands for the recovery of missing persons and action against perpetrators.

According to officials, unidentified armed men attacked Killi Babri a day earlier, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire after local residents resisted the assault. Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed that four people were killed and nine others injured in the clashes.

The protesters have blocked Airport Road for all traffic, with local representative Muhammad Azam Kakar alleging that 18 youths disappeared during the incident. He has stated that the protest will go on till the missing persons are traced and the attackers are punished.

Kakar also said that Killi Babri was attacked in the same manner 7 years ago, and authorities had made a commitment to enhance security at the time. He said that almost 300 unidentified armed men participated in the recent attack, alleging that the lack of security measures was responsible for the incident.

The protest by the families of those who lost their lives in the deadly attack in the Hanna area of the tourist city of Quetta has been going on for the second day, with the protesters demanding justice and better security arrangements in the city.

The families also accused the authorities of not providing proper security after promising them the same in a similar attack in the region a few years ago.
