Karachi: Pakistan Navy, PMSA find drowned wreckage of missing cargo plane

The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have found the drowned wreckage of the missing K2 Airways cargo plane while continuing their search and rescue operation on Wednesday.

The operation has been ongoing for more than 12 hours. During the operation, the search teams located the aircraft’s wreckage in the sea.

According to the officials, the wreckage was found 53 nautical miles south of the Ormara coast. Rescue teams are still continuing operations to search for more evidence and the aircraft’s crew members.

Additionally, naval ships and aircraft of the Pakistan Navy and PMSA remain involved in the search operation.

K2 Airways cargo plane from Sharjah to Karachi goes missing

Recently, a K2 Airways Boeing 737-400 cargo plane went missing following the route from Sharjah to Karachi.

The PAA confirmed today that the plane went missing while it was on its way to Pakistan.

Boeing 737-400 cargo aircraft went off the radar at 21:18 as per the Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

PAA officials said that contact with the plane was cut off due to a navigational system fault. PAA further added that after the reported navigation system malfunction, the Karachi Area Control Centre (KACC) provided immediate guidance to the flight crew.

K2 Airways has also issued its first official statement after one of its cargo planes went missing while flying from Sharjah to Karachi.

The airline said the missing aircraft is a Boeing 737-400 cargo plane that lost contact with air traffic control during the flight.

According to the statement, communication with the aircraft was lost at 09:21 PM Pakistan time on Tuesday. The plane was carrying five crew members.

K2 Airways said search and rescue operations are currently underway. K2 Airways identified the crew as Pilot-in-Command Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Mehmood, Load Master Muhammad Toufeeq Khan, Engineer Arif Siddiqui and Engineer Muhammad Hamid.
