DUBAI: Pakistani players including prolific batter Babar Azam and ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi drop in the latest rankings announced by ICC.
As per the ICC ODI rankings, Babar Azam slipped one spot to fifth place with 728 rating points, while wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and opener Fakhar Zaman rise one place each to 23rd and 26th respectively.
The T20I captain Salman Ali Agha climbed by nine places to 30th after his important innings against South Africa in first ODI in Faisalabad.
The former Indian captain remains the top ODI player, with Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran following in second place.
New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell has attained a career-best third position after helping his team complete a 3-0 series triumph over England at home.
In bowling, the speedster Shaheen Afridi slipped one position to 15th with 587 points. On the other hand, Naseem Shah rise to 33rd with 10 spots surge with 524 points.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed also went up on the charts to 37th, and all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz advanced three places to 69th with 436 points.
Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman (up 13 slots to 14th), West Indies fast bowler Jason Holder (up nine places to 23rd) and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza (up 32 places to 33rd) make notable progress.
Pakistan’s left-arm seamer Salman Mirza has rocketed 98 places to 45th after his three-wicket haul in the second T20I against South Africa in Lahore.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan beat South Africa by two wickets in the first match of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad,
Pakistan successfully chased a target of 264 runs, with Salman Agha scoring 62 runs.
Pakistan reached the target in the 49th over with strong batting performances chasing 264 runs. South Africa started well but lost momentum, finishing at 263 all out in 49 overs.
