The number of Pakistani students choosing Germany for higher education has risen by 14% over the past two years. Expanding academic ties between the two countries encouraged more students to explore educational opportunities in Germany.
German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas said that Pakistani students are highly talented, academically capable and eager to pursue quality education. He added on that many of them are enrolling in Germany’s top universities and are making valuable contributions to academic institutions through their dedication and performance.
Moreover, according to the ambassador, the rise in student enrollment demonstrates the increasing interest of Pakistani youth in Germany’s internationally recognised higher education system. Pakistani students are developing strong German language skills before beginning their academic journey.
Students wishing to study in Germany must apply directly to their chosen universities by following the institutions admission procedures, rather than German embassy, which is unacceptable.
Grannas further advised prospective applicants to carefully review the latest visa regulations and application requirements before starting the process. All updated information regarding student visas, required documentation and application procedures is available on the official website of the German Embassy.
On the other hand, Australia increased its student visa application fees from A$2,000, which is Rs384,144, to A$2,500, which is Rs480,180.
The new fee applies to the Student Visa or the Subclass 500. This is the second fee increase after the previous rise in July 2025.
ELICOS fee
The Australian government also introduced a separate fee for students applying for English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) under the same visa category.
The application fee for these students increased to A$2,050 or Rs393,747, up from the previous A$2,000 or Rs384,144.
According to reports, the education groups had asked the government to reduce the fee for ELICOS students.
