Pakistan is hosting the 9th Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad on July 12 and 13. Delegations from OIC member states have started arriving in the federal capital for the two-day event.
The conference is being held under the theme, “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward.” It brings together ministers responsible for women and family affairs, senior government officials, representatives of OIC institutions, international organisations and development partners.
The participants will discuss ways to improve the socio-economic and political empowerment of women in OIC member countries.
During the conference, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar will take over the chairmanship of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women on behalf of Pakistan.
As chair, Pakistan will lead the conference, encourage dialogue among member states, and work to build consensus on strengthening women’s empowerment across the Muslim world.
Over the next two days, delegates will review progress, share experiences and best practices, and discuss practical steps to improve women’s socio-economic and political participation in OIC countries.
The Government of Pakistan has welcomed all participating delegates and wished them a successful conference and a pleasant stay in Islamabad.
