A Pakistani businessman named Khurram Shehzad was kidnapped by some armed men in Pretoria, South Africa.

The incident took place on the evening of Saturday, July 4, in the Hercules area.

The local police have filed the case and have initiated their investigation.

According to the media reports, the case has been filed under Case No. 41/07/2026, as the police have yet to release any details regarding the case as of the date.

The other businessman who also belong to Pakistan have raised their concerns by saying that multiple kidnapping cases have occurred over the past several years, which is quite alarming.

The members of the community have shared their fears, saying that prominent business holders are kidnapped for ransom.

The recent incident has added to the fear among the businessmen and their families.

As per the information provided by the sources, in certain kidnapping cases, friends or relatives of victims have provided information to criminal groups, helped plan the abductions and later received a share of the ransom money. However, authorities have not publicly confirmed such claims in the case of Khurram Shehzad.

Pakistani business owners have also criticised the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saying they have not held meaningful discussions with the South African government to address the growing security threat.

They say the issue requires urgent diplomatic engagement and closer coordination between the two countries to improve the safety of Pakistani nationals.

Community representatives also noted that Pakistani entrepreneurs in South Africa contribute significant foreign exchange to Pakistan through regular remittances, arguing that the government should take immediate steps to protect their interests and raise the matter with South African authorities.
