Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced fully funded PhD scholarships for students applying for Autumn 2026 admissions.
The scholarships will be given on merit, and the selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs80,000. They will not have to pay the tuition fees.
The university said applicants must meet the Higher Education Commission (HEC) rules for PhD admissions. They must also meet the scholarship requirements set by AIOU.
Students selected for the scholarship will also receive research support. They will be able to use the university’s libraries, laboratories, research facilities, and online academic resources.
AIOU fully funded scholarship subjects
The scholarships are available in several subjects. These include Islamic Studies, Distance and Non-Formal Education, Science Education, Mass Communication, Pakistani Languages and Literature, Agricultural Extension, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Food and Nutrition, Mathematics, and Physics.
AIOU is also offering PhD programs in different areas of Islamic Studies and Pakistani Languages.
How to apply for AIOU scholarship
To apply, candidates must have at least a 3.5 CGPA out of 4.0 or an equivalent grade in their MS or MPhil degree. They have to submit a research proposal related to the department they are applying to.
The university said applicants with research experience or published work will be given preference.
However, research publications are not required. The maximum age limit for scholarship applicants is 35 years on the closing date.

Selected students will receive full tuition fee coverage and a monthly stipend of Rs80,000. They will also get access to research facilities, libraries, laboratories, and online academic resources.
The scholarship will continue for four years if students maintain good academic performance.
It is a residential scholarship, so selected students must stay at the AIOU Main Campus while receiving the stipend.
