Pak vs SA 1st ODI
Pakistan beat South Africa by two wickets in the first One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, taking a 1–0 lead in the series.
Chasing a target of 264 runs, Pakistan reached the mark in the 49th over. Salman Agha played a key role with a solid 62-run innings.
South Africa had made a strong start but eventually lost momentum, getting bowled out for 263 in 49.1 overs.
For South Africa, openers Quinton de Kock and Lhuan-dre Pretorius gave their team a good start with a 98-run partnership. Pretorius scored 57 before being caught by Mohammad Nawaz off Saim Ayub, while de Kock was the top scorer with 63.
Among Pakistan’s bowlers, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each.
Saim Ayub claimed two wickets, while captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz picked up one apiece. Afridi was the most expensive bowler, conceding 55 runs for one wicket.
This was also Shaheen Shah Afridi’s first time leading Pakistan in a home ODI series.
For South Africa, three players made their ODI debuts, while Dewald Brevis was sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
