The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved an increase in the house requisition allowance for employees serving in the Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, and Governor’s Secretariat. The revised allowance will apply to government employees from Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 03 to BPS 22. It will take effect from July 1, 2026, according to a notification issued by the KP Finance Department.
Employees in different pay scales will receive an increase in monthly house requisition allowance based on their grade. Employees in BPS-03 to BPS-06 will receive Rs6,000 per month. BPS-07 to BPS-10 will receive Rs9,000. Staff members in BPS-11 to BPS-13 will be entitled to Rs13,000, whereas employees in BPS-14 to BPS-15 will receive Rs16,000 each month.
Although, the revised rates are even higher for senior officials. Employees in BPS-16 will receive Rs18,000, while officers in BPS-17 and BPS-18 will be paid Rs21,000. The allowance for BPS-19 has been fixed at Rs28,000, increasing further to Rs35,000 for BPS-20 officers. Employees in BPS-21 will receive Rs42,000. The highest allowance of Rs52,000 has been approved for officers serving in BPS-22.
According to the Finance Department’s notification, the revised allowance will be paid to all eligible employees. Departments have been instructed to ensure prompt implementation.
Moreover, the report also referred to a recent decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which approved a 100% increase in utility allowance for Supreme Court employees. The increase was approved by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi.
On the other hand, previously, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government allocated Rs351.1 million for gifts, tea, and entertainment expenses in government offices under its budget for the new fiscal year, according to media reports.
While people in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue to face shortages of healthcare, education, clean drinking water, dilapidated roads, and other basic amenities. The provincial government has allocated hundreds of millions of rupees in the new fiscal year’s budget for entertainment, hospitality, and gifts for government offices.
