Russian Embassy Lashes Out at Frontier Post

Web desk: The Russian Embassy in Pakistan has strongly criticised the English-language Pakistani newspaper, The Frontier Post, accusing it of publishing anti-Russian content.

In a statement on X, the embassy said that the Frontier Post cannot truly be called a Pakistani newspaper since its global news service operates from Washington.

It claimed that the paper’s “Americanised” team regularly promotes writers critical of Russia, its foreign policy, and President Vladimir Putin.

The post read, “This Americanized team is responsible for selecting articles on the international agenda and invariably gives preference to ardent Russophobes and critics of Russian foreign policy and President Vladimir Putin.”

The embassy said the paper had not published a single article presenting Russia in a positive or even neutral light. It added that the continuous publication of anti-Russian pieces showed a clear political bias rather than freedom of speech.

The statement also noted that the newspaper ignored the Moscow Format of Consultations held on October 7, 2025, even though the event was widely covered by local media.

Calling the publication “Russophobic,” the embassy accused its editors of copying Western propaganda and misrepresenting Russia’s economy and military strength.

The post raised the question, “It is bewildering that the newspaper, which devotes an entire section to news about Afghanistan, completely ignored the Moscow Format of Consultations (October 7, 2025), an event that received decent coverage in the local media. This approach further highlights the Russophobic nature of the Westernised editorial office and demonstrates its disregard for Pakistan’s efforts to promote its approach to regional issues on leading specialised platforms.”

The embassy said that, despite Western sanctions, Russia’s economy grew by 4.1 per cent in 2024 and continues to show stability.

It also highlighted Russia’s recent successful testing of advanced weapons as proof of its strong defence capabilities.

The statement urged the Pakistani public to verify news from multiple sources and not depend on outlets that serve “foreign interests.”
