WhatsApp Down
WhatsApp faced a major global outage on Tuesday night, leaving millions of users unable to send or receive messages.
The disruption affected several countries, including Pakistan, the UK, Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica, Italy, and the United States. And impacted both the mobile and web versions of the app.
According to Downdetector reports, connectivity issues started appearing around 7 pm in Pakistan and increased rapidly.
By 8 pm, more than a hundred complaints had been filed from Pakistan alone, alongside thousands of similar reports worldwide.
Most of the problems were linked to WhatsApp Web. With over 80 per cent of users reporting difficulties connecting through their browsers, according to a report by Mirror UK.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, did not immediately issue a statement explaining the cause of the outage or when normal service would resume, as per the reports.
With over three billion active monthly users globally, WhatsApp had not provided any timeline for resolving the issue at the time, reports say.
