Wana Cadet College Attack: Field Marshal Personally Monitored, Operation Commander

SSG commando explains the WANA cadet college clearance operation

WANA: Colonel Muhammad Tahir, the SSG commander who stopped the attack by Afghan terrorists on Wana Cadet College, said Field Marshal Asim Munir personally monitored the situation and gave instructions that no hard should come to the children.

Narrating the incident, Col. Tahir said on the morning of November 10, five Afghan militants attacked Wana Cadet College. One suicide bomber exploded, while others tried to enter through the gate. Security forces responded immediately and confined the attackers to a specific block to protect the students.

The commander said the terrorists first tried to take the students hostage, but Pakistan Army soldiers continued their operation for more than 24 hours. Finally, around 10 to 10:30 pm, all attackers were eliminated.

Colonel Tahir said Wana Cadet College is a valuable gift from the Pakistan Army to the people of South Waziristan. Education enemies tried to target it, but the brave soldiers saved the students by risking their own lives.

A student said they were preparing for a drill competition when the explosion happened. “We knew the attack came from enemies of education, but we will not stop learning,” the student said.

Teachers and students said the army’s timely action prevented a major tragedy.

Field Marshal Asim Munir personally monitored the operation and instructed, “These young builders of the nation are our treasure; no harm should come to them.”

Thanks to the quick response of the security forces, the terrorists’ dangerous plan was foiled, he said.
