According to the officials, the newly built system will be fully implemented for exams in 2026.

To oversee the transition process, the provincial government has formed a high level committee called Digitization and Technology Implementation in Education Boards.

A notification for the committee was issued by Secretary of Universities and Boards, Abbas Baloch.

Members include chairpersons from the Karachi, Sukkur, and Shaheed Benazirabad boards, along with senior officials from the department.

Committee convener Fakir Muhammad Lakho, Chairman of the Karachi Higher Secondary Board, told private media,
“We convinced the federal government that if it can fund PhD scholarships for universities nationwide, why can’t we be entrusted with the e-marking mechanism?”

He explained that the new system will start with intermediate pre-engineering and pre-medical exams in 2026.

Under the system, each exam paper will have a QR code.

The paper will be scanned, and different teachers will mark different sections.

“No teacher will mark more than one question from the same paper,” Lakho said, ensuring that each paper is checked multiple times for fairness.

The committee will also work with IBCC to introduce online enrolment, digital result processing, e-marking, and certificate verification across the province.

IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah confirmed that teams from Sindh’s educational boards will attend training sessions in Islamabad next week.

After the training, boards will receive the necessary software to begin implementing the new digital system.
