Bannu: An Assistant Commissioner of North Waziristan, Shah Wali, two police personnel, and one other person were martyred when a attack occurred on a police vehicle while it was on its way from Miranshah to Bannu.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle near a flour mill on the outskirts of Bannu on Tuesday, according to police.

According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police Bannu Sajjad Khan, the attackers ambushed the vehicle and seriously wounded AC North Waziristan Shah Wali Khan, two police constables, and a passerby who happened to be near the scene.

According to the eyewitness, the attackers seized weapons from the wounded officers before fleeing, and after the attack, the attackers set the government vehicles on fire.

Mr. Sajjad Khan said that the assistant commission was coming to Bannu from Miranshah when the attack happened, and emergency response teams shifted the deceased and injured to the district headquarters hospital, Bannu.  

Regional police Officer (RPO) has confirmed that the attack took place within the jurisdiction of the cantonment police station.

PM CONDOLES LOSS OF LIFE

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the martyrdom of four individuals, including the Assistant Commissioner North Waziristan, in a terrorist attack in Bannu.

The Prime Minister offered prayers for the deceased (Shaheed) and prayed for patience and steadfastness for the bereaved families.

Prime Minister directed that immediate medical assistance be provided to the injured.

Ordering an investigation into the incident the PM has asked for the immediate bringing of the saboteurs to justice.

“We will foil the nefarious designs of the terrorists, the enemies of humanity,” the Prime Minister stated.

The Prime Minister affirmed, “The government is committed to the complete elimination of terrorism from the country.”
