The International Cricket Council has released the latest player rankings for women’s T20 international cricket. In the new rankings, Pakistani women cricketers have made notable improvements.
In the batting department, Pakistan’s Shawaal Zulfiqar has improved by 16 places. She has now reached 29th place in the world rankings.
National batter Ayesha Zafar has also made a major jump in the rankings. After improving by 31 places, she has secured the 40th position.
Australian player tops batting rankings
In the women’s T20 batting rankings, Australia’s Beth Mooney is in first place. Her compatriot Georgia Voll is in second place.
Pakistan’s Ayesha Zafar has also improved in the global all-rounders’ rankings. After moving up nine places, she has reached 30th position.
This progress by Pakistani players reflects their performances in recent matches. In the new rankings, several Pakistani players have improved their positions.
Pakistani players also advance in bowling
In the T20 international bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Sadia Yousuf has managed to retain her eighth position.
Fatima Sana has also improved in the bowling department. She moved up five places to take the 24th position.
In the global bowling rankings, India’s Shree Charani is in first place. Her compatriot Deepti Sharma is in second place.
Pakistan’s success at the Asian Games
Pakistan Women’s Team defeated Bangladesh Women’s Team at the Asian Games to win the bronze medal. The national team scored 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Captain Fatima Sana played a notable innings in the match, scoring 45 runs. Her performance played an important role in stabilising Pakistan’s total score.
In reply, the Bangladesh women’s team failed to achieve the target. The Bangladesh team scored 114 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Pakistan thus defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs to win the bronze medal. Pakistan’s Umm-e-Hani bowled well and took three wickets.
Defeat to Sri Lanka in semi-final
In the semi-final of the Asian Games, Pakistan Women’s Team suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka. Following this result, the national team faced Bangladesh in the third-place match.
The victory against Bangladesh earned Pakistan a bronze medal at the Asian Games. Meanwhile, the individual performances of Pakistani players were also reflected in the improvement in the global T20 rankings.
