Afghan terrorist arrested in Balochistan operation

Major breakthrough: Afghan terrorist arrested in Balochistan operation

In a major operation, security forces arrested an Afghan terrorist identified as Habibullah. According to officials, he confessed to carrying out attacks on Pakistani security personnel in collaboration with TTA.

Interior Minister of Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Lango and other officials revealed that the arrested terrorist’s brother, Sher Afghan, is also affiliated with TTP and is a resident of Paktika, Afghanistan. The group was reportedly led by an individual known as “Muslim.”

While addressing a press conference, he said that Habibullah had targeted security personnel during Pak-Afghan clashes and had previously been imprisoned for one month.

Balochistan’s Interior Minister said that there has been a long-standing conspiracy to destabilise Pakistan. He emphasised that Pakistan has consistently informed the international community that it is a responsible state.

The minister added that Pakistan is targeting terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan to protect its citizens and clarified that the country has no hostility toward the people of Afghanistan. He warned that any threats against Pakistan would be met with a strong response.

He also stated that Pakistan has repeatedly provided concrete evidence of Afghan soil being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan and has urged the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent such actions.

“This press conference is aimed at presenting evidence of terrorism originating from Afghanistan in Pakistan,” the minister said, confirming that the arrested individual, Habibullah, is an Afghan national.

The minister further announced that the government has decided that illegally residing Afghan nationals must return to their country.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqat stated that thousands of intelligence-based operations have been conducted in Balochistan, and approximately 960,000 undocumented Afghans have been deported so far.

He said that Habibullah belongs to TTA and had previously been arrested but released as a goodwill gesture. He was re-arrested from the Kuchlak area, exposing links to cross-border terrorism. Officials added that TTA and TTP are jointly involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan. A “One Document Regime” has also been implemented across the province.

Meanwhile, the DIG CTD stated that operations are ongoing and the net around other members of the group has been further tightened.
