KARACHI: The government of Sindh has announced good news for job applicants across the province with new age relaxations.

As per the formal notification issued here by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, signed by Section Officer-II Nadeem Ahmed, a long-awaited relief has been approved for the job candidates.

The upper age limit has been increased from 28 to 33 years for posts filled through IBA Sukkur. The development gives applicants a five-year age relaxation. Officials said the relaxation will support deserving candidates who were unable to apply earlier due to prolonged restrictions on government hiring.

For positions filled via the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), the upper age limit has now been set at 30 years, with a two-year relaxation granted in line with Supreme Court directives.

The Sindh government had previously abolished age relaxation, a step that dashed the hopes of thousands of aspiring candidates, particularly as the province had maintained a years-long ban on new recruitment.

Additional marks for job candidates

Earlier, Sindh government introduced a new policy awarding five additional marks to candidates applying for posts from Grade 5 to Grade 15, provided they have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate in their academic qualifications.

The decision was formally notified by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD).

The notification, signed by Section Officer-V Sanaullah Qazi, makes it mandatory for the Departmental Selection Committees and IBA Sukkur Testing Service which conducts most large-scale recruitment exams in the province to add these five grace marks during the evaluation process.

Candidates holding Intermediate (F.A/F.Sc or equivalent) qualifications will also be eligible for the same five additional marks in the written/tests screening stage.

Officials stated that the policy is aimed at promoting merit-based selection, recognising consistent academic performance, and bringing uniformity to the recruitment process across all provincial
