Former cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad has talked about his personal struggles before getting into cricket.
In a podcast, while talking about his early days and his passion about cricket, he talked about the young cricket players.
“I was obsessed with cricket. My mother fulfilled all my needs. I used to walk an hour to reach the ground, practice in the nets, and was always the first one there, watering the pitch myself”, he said.
Blaming the young talent, he added, “These days kids wake up and say they want to play PSL, and after scoring a single 50, they say play me for Pakistan. That’s why the national team is suffering.”
Ahmed Shehzad said that back in his team, he played cricket because of the passion not because of the luxurious life.
It is pertinent to mention that lately the Pakistan cricket team has been under a lot of scrutiny because of its poor performance.
Earlier, Ahmed Shehzad harshly criticised Babar Azam, blaming him for Pakistan’s poor performance in their opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
He also did not hold back while criticising Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s partnership. He called their approach “schoolboy stuff”.
