Upon arrival, the minister was received by Director GINOR, Dr Asima Zaman Malik, along with the hospital administration. He was given a detailed briefing on the hospital’s diagnostic, treatment, and patient-care facilities.

The minister visited key departments, interacted with medical professionals, and expressed appreciation for the hospital’s efforts in providing quality cancer care to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He particularly commended the management for maintaining high standards despite the challenges of operating in a remote mountainous region.

Furthermore, today marked an important milestone as Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated the PCR machine, the first of its kind in Gilgit, significantly enhancing the diagnostic capabilities and strengthening the quality of care provided to the people.

Addressing the hospital team, the minister highlighted the importance of accessible cancer treatment and reaffirmed the government’s continued support for strengthening health services in the region.

He praised the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and GINOR Cancer Hospital for their contribution toward saving lives and assured that additional resources would be directed toward enhancing specialised care, advanced equipment, and professional training.

AECH GINOR, in Gilgit, has been managing a substantial and growing number of cancer patients from across the entire Gilgit-Baltistan region, with the patient load steadily increasing since the hospital first opened its doors.

This reflects both the rising need for specialised cancer care and the trust the community places in the institution.

The honourable minister also planted a commemorative tree within the hospital premises, symbolising the government’s commitment to supporting health-sector development and environmental sustainability.

He later took a group photograph with the staff to mark the occasion. The visit concluded with the minister acknowledging the dedication of the hospital staff and reiterating the federal government’s resolve to improve healthcare infrastructure for the benefit of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

In his remarks in the visitors’ book, the federal minister wrote: “I am very pleased to visit PAEC GINOR at Gilgit. This project was initiated under VISION 2025 to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the people of GB for early diagnosis and treatment of Cancer.
