Airfares likely to rise in Pakistan due to Iran Israel US situation
According to a report by a private TV channel, both local and international airlines are expected to raise ticket prices by 20 to 30 per cent.
The increase may be implemented within the next one to two days for flights to both domestic and international destinations.
This increase is coming ahead of Eid ul Fitr 2026, right when many people travel back to home to visit their families.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has announced plans to launch Punjab Airlines in April.
Ticket prices for international flights
Sources say that ticket prices for flights to Europe, the United States (US), Canada, and Gulf countries may see significant increases.
Ticket prices for domestic flights
Fares for flights from Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad to London could increase by up to Rs100,000.
Similarly, ticket prices from Pakistan to Paris, Istanbul, New York, and Toronto are expected to rise by Rs80,000 to Rs150,000.
Pakistan Railways increases train ticket prices ahead of Eid ul Fitr
Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in train fares after a recent rise in diesel prices. The decision comes a few days before Eid ul Fitr 2026 and may increase expenses for passengers.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, the fare increase was necessary because diesel prices have gone up by about 20 per cent.
Under the new rates, economy class tickets have increased by 5 per cent. Fares for the AC class have gone up by 10 per cent as well. Freight charges have also been raised by up to 20 per cent.
The new fares will come into effect on March 9. Passengers who already booked their tickets before the increase will continue to pay the old rates.
