AJK govt urges focus on dialogue, condemns disruptive protest tactic of JAAC

The spokesperson of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government said that the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) is spreading misleading and baseless narratives in the name of public issues.

According to the spokesperson, the government has chosen the path of dialogue, relief, and implementation, while the JAAC has opted for pressure and street politics instead of adopting a more flexible approach.

Spokesperson stated that JAAC is attempting to pressure the government through ongoing demonstrations, questioning the intent behind what he described as disruptive politics carried out under the guise of addressing public issues.

AJK government spokesperson has stated that despite the acceptance of 35 out of 38 demands put forward by the Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee, the group’s continued insistence on protests is not in the public interest and reflects political obstinacy.

The spokesperson said the Joint Action Committee is attempting to pressure the government through ongoing demonstrations, questioning the intent behind what he described as disruptive politics carried out under the guise of addressing public issues.

He stated that despite the government’s serious efforts during negotiations, the Action Committee remained rigid and unwilling to compromise. The government opted for dialogue, relief measures, and implementation, but the Joint Action Committee showed no flexibility.

The spokesperson further said that the political leadership and opposition parties in Azad Kashmir also appear united in opposing the committee’s rigid stance. He added that they are collectively against the protest politics of the Joint Action Committee.

He also clarified that while peaceful protest is a democratic right, blocking roads and paralyzing public life will not be allowed. If there is any attempt to disturb peace and order through stubbornness, legal action will be taken.

The spokesperson further said that the ratification of the All Parties Conference declaration by the Azad Kashmir Assembly is a clear expression of democratic consensus.

He added that the Joint Action Public Committee is spreading a misleading and baseless narrative in the name of public issues, while the facts have now become clear to the public.
