Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has announced an end to the day-long sit-in on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi, following successful negotiations with the police.
According to details, the protest led by Aleema Khan and joined by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers had been underway throughout the day.
The sit-in was called off late at night after the Rawalpindi police assured Aleema Khan that she and her sisters would be allowed to meet their brother.
The talks between Aleema Khan and the police were said to have been facilitated by Allama Raja Nasir, whose efforts helped bridge the gap between the two sides.
As a result of these negotiations, Aleema Khan announced that the PTI workers would end their sit-in on Adiala Road.
Rawalpindi police reportedly gave a clear assurance regarding a meeting between Imran Khan and his sisters, which became the basis for the decision to wind up the protest.
In Adiala Jail, SHO Adeelah Jail Checkpost In-charge Azaz hosted Aleema Khan and Allama Raja Nasir for tea. This meeting took place days after the PTI had accused the same SHO of misconduct and mistreatment earlier on Tuesday.
With the sit-in now concluded, traffic and routine movement on Adiala Road are expected to gradually return to normal.
