Who will lead Iran after Ali Khamenei?

Confirmation has been made by the media of Iran that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has been martyred in his office and an atmosphere of grief and anger has spread over the country.

The Iranian military has announced that the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader will definitely be avenged and anyone who is guilty of aggression on the borders of the country will receive a bitter punishment.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in a statement said that a severe and a decisive revenge will be taken from the killers of the Supreme Leader.

They further stated that the enemies will be brought to a humiliating end.

The statement further stated that the defence of sovereignty and honour of the country will be a shining example in front of the whole Islamic World.

Possible Successor

After the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader, the appointment of National Security Advisor Ali Larijani as a successor is under consideration.

Official sources said that government circles are in close consultation, while the public circles and members of parliament have also announced that they will gather for consultations.

International Reaction

There has been great concern from the international community regarding the incident. Some countries have urged that tension should not be further escalated while human rights organisations have strongly condemned civilian losses.

The Iranian people have also taken to the streets in protest to express their grief and anger.
