Former owner of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen, has expressed interest in reacquiring the franchise, sources said.
According to officials, Ali Tareen has decided to participate in the bidding process for the rights to the Multan PSL team.
According to the details he has submitted the required documents to join the auction.
Earlier, Tareen had declined to retain ownership of Multan Sultans and had shown interest in bidding for two of the PSL’s new franchises, but he withdrew at the last moment.
After stepping back from the new team bids, Tareen had stated that if he returns to the PSL, it would be for Southern Punjab.
The auction for the Multan franchise is expected to take place on February 8 or 9, according to league sources.

Ali Khan Tareen announced in a post on X that he will not take part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise auction this year.
He said that he and his family will not attend today’s PSL franchise auction.
In his message, Tareen claimed that his involvement in the PSL was not only about owning a cricket team, but it was also about representing South Punjab. Giving the region a stronger voice in national cricket is more important than owning a team.
Tareen described South Punjab as his home and said that it remains close to his heart. For now, he said, “I will watch the tournament from the stands and support the players and fans.”
After careful consideration, my family and I have decided not to participate in today’s PSL franchise auction.

Our time with Multan Sultans was never just about owning a cricket team. It was about South Punjab. About giving a voice to a region that had been overlooked for too…
Ali Tareen purchased the Multan Sultans franchise in the 2018 bidding. The team remained under his ownership for seven years.
