Web desk: Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has responded to the legal notice issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), saying he will not be silenced by threats.
Tareen criticised the board’s approach, saying, “It seems you are so used to surrounding yourself with ‘yes-men’ that you cannot tolerate criticism.”
He further added, “I never received a call, message, or invitation to sit and discuss matters in the office. Instead, I received a legal notice directly.”
He added, “If you think this threat will make me stay quiet, it will not. I love this league, it belongs to the fans, not the handful of people running it.”
Tareen expressed willingness to work with the PCB to resolve issues, saying, “If you want us to work together, we can make this league the top league in the world.”
“I apologise… that I want the PSL to be better,” he said, highlighting his frustration with the board’s handling of criticism
He ended the video by tearing up the notice.
Multan Sultans Respond to PCB Actions Against Ali Tareen
The Multan Sultans have also expressed disappointment over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) recent actions against franchise owner Ali Tareen, calling the board’s approach “narrow-minded.”
The franchise said Ali Tareen invested billions of rupees after taking charge and personally faced losses of over Rs7 billion.
He has also set up cricket academies across the country, creating opportunities for young players.
The team denied all charges, saying Ali Tareen’s statements were made in the best interest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
They added that it is “regrettable that the PCB considers constructive criticism a crime,” and called the board’s behaviour “narrow-minded.”
According to the statement, the PCB had sent a legal notice last month asking Tareen to withdraw his critical speech and issue a public apology.
The notice warned that failing to comply could lead to cancellation of the franchise agreement and even disqualify him from owning any cricket team for life.
