Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has directed that all ministers and government staff must limit their extra spending.
An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of PM Shehbaz to discuss measures to stabilise the national economy in light of recent international tensions.
The Prime Minister stressed that the burden of savings and austerity should be shared fairly by all. He emphasised that the privileged and elite segments of society should lead by example in making the necessary adjustments.
He stated that, during this challenging period, it is crucial to ensure the prudent use of national resources, and once this difficult phase passes and the economy stabilises further, the government will provide maximum relief to the public.
The Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on recent global developments and their potential economic impact. The briefing highlighted that the current regional situation could affect Pakistan’s economy, particularly energy supply, and lead to fluctuations in global market prices. In view of this, the government is taking pre-emptive measures.
The Prime Minister stated that, given the current international situation, the timely implementation of measures is essential to maintain economic stability. He emphasised that the government is closely monitoring the situation and will make all necessary decisions to ensure the stability of the national economy.
He expressed his commitment to taking all possible measures to safeguard public interests and ensure economic stability. He instructed the federal cabinet, elected representatives at federal and provincial levels, and senior civil servants to play their full part in providing relief to the public and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
