Nation Observes 148th Birth Anniversary of Allama Iqbal

Web desk: The nation is celebrating the 148th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal on Sunday, with calls to revive his message of Khudi, unity, and moral renewal to tackle modern challenges.

Allama Iqbal’s vision encouraged the youth to “write their own destiny and create a new world with their own imagination.” He was an Islamic thinker whose dream emphasised the unity of the Islamic world and the establishment of peace, viewing the Muslim Ummah as one body.

Today, his message is seen as a call for brotherhood instead of sectarianism, love instead of hatred, and justice instead of the use of might.

Iqbal’s ideas played a pivotal role in awakening the spirit of independence and self-determination among the Muslims of the Subcontinent.

In his address at the All-India Muslim League session in 1930, he stressed the importance of securing Muslim rights, laying the foundation for a sovereign nation.

His literary contributions, including Asrar-e-Khudi, Rumuz-e-Bekhudi, and Bang-e-Dara, explore identity, spirituality, and freedom.

Beyond his writings, his insistence on political representation for Muslims and values rooted in Islam has left a lasting impact on Pakistan’s national identity.
