Pakistani forces responded strongly after Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) targeted civilian areas in Angoor Adda, South Waziristan.
In a strong show of military response, the Pakistan Army struck multiple Afghan Taliban positions, destroying several posts and bunkers.
The strikes caused several casualties among Afghan Taliban forces in response to their attacks on innocent civilians.
Pakistan has made it clear that attacks on its civilian population will not go unanswered and that any such aggression will be met with a strong response.
Angoor Adda is an important crossing along the Pak-Afghan border. It serves as a major trade route and a key passage for public movement between the two neighbouring countries.
Unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban in Angoor Adda
Earlier, it was reported that the Pakistan Army had responded to “unprovoked firing” by the Afghan Taliban along the Pak-Afghan border in the Angoor Adda area on Tuesday.
According to the report, Pakistani forces used heavy weaponry, forcing Afghan Taliban personnel to abandon their positions and retreat.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the incident, warning that Pakistan would “never tolerate” attacks on its citizens or any violation of its sovereignty.
Pakistan also rejected a statement issued by Afghanistan’s defence ministry over the incident, which accused Pakistan of initiating the aggression, dismissing the claims as a “fabrication of lies”.
