LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to establish anti-harassment committees in all government schools across the province to ensure a safe and dignified educational environment for female students.
The School Education Department has issued an official notification on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
According to the notification, three-member committees will be formed in all primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools of the province.
Each committee will include at least three teachers, in which female representation has been made mandatory.
According to the education department, the committees will deal with complaints related to harassment in schools in a confidential and effective manner. Protection of complainants and a fair inquiry process will be ensured.
The anti-harassment committees will submit their reports regularly to the District Education Authority (DEA).
The School Education Department has directed all schools to submit a list of committees formed within 30 days.
According to official sources, this move is a significant step towards preventing incidents of harassment in schools and providing a safe educational environment to female students.
