Good news for applicants: ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’ application status update

The Punjab government has announced good news for applicants of the ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’ housing scheme, with a fresh update on the application status.

The government has approved inviting new applications for the housing scheme, following a review of the programme’s progress by Punjab’s Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister, where officials presented an update on the scheme and its progress.

According to details shared after the meeting, more than 1.7 million people have registered through the programme’s online portal so far.

The government says more than 225,000 interest-free loans have been issued to applicants, while 171,597 people have received the second instalment of their loans.

The scheme aims to help eligible residents build their own homes through financial assistance.

Officials told the meeting that construction of 128,718 homes had been completed under the programme, while work on another 62,600 houses was under way.

The scheme has also recorded a loan recovery rate of 97.6%, with instalments totalling Rs22.29 billion collected so far, according to the figures presented at the meeting.

The government said the programme had received a strong public response and that international organisations had praised its transparent, interest-free lending model.

The approval to invite fresh applications is part of the government’s plan to expand the housing initiative. However, further details about the application schedule and eligibility requirements were not provided in the announcement.

The meeting also reviewed the ‘Apni Chat, Mehfooz Chat’ programme, for which the application process has concluded.

Under this initiative, loans worth Rs1.216 billion have been provided to 3,055 people.

The financial assistance has helped complete construction and expansion work on 532 homes.

Applicants interested in the newly announced expansion of the ‘Apni Chat, Apna Ghar’ scheme should follow official Punjab government announcements for details about when applications will reopen and how to apply.
