Apple is one of the biggest tech companies in the United States (US). Apple iPhones are the most expensive and latest phones worldwide. Several media reports and social media users confirmed that Apple is planning to set up an iPhone factory in Pakistan.

The media reports also confirmed that under the new framework, Apple has agreed to refurbish Apple iPhone devices in Pakistan for re-export. The reports also confirmed that the government will earn more than $100 million from the re-export of refurbished iPhones this year.

Apple management asked the government for the provision of land at discounted rates and offer 8% performance incentive under the new policy. Apple, as a company, confirmed that it will repair two-year-old iPhones.

“We have included these three conditions in the new proposed Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Framework to be approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” Engineering Development Board (EDB) Chief Executive Officer Hamad Ali Mansoor said while speaking to a private media channel.

Hamad Ali Mansoor also said that Apple used the same model in Indonesia, Malaysia, and India. Initially, the company repaired two to three-year-old iPhones and trained local workers. After that, Apple started manufacturing iPhones in the same countries.

6 per cent performance incentive

According to the report, the government is also providing 6% performance incentive to mobile manufacturers. However, the government will increase 6% performance incentive to 8% to attract Apple and other manufacturers worldwide.

“We are also expecting investments of $557 million from Chinese companies in mobile manufacturing,” the EDB CEO Hamad Ali Mansoor said.

At the same time, after this Apple project in Pakistan, the country will be able to attract more global manufacturers of laptops, tablets, watches, trackers, and AirPods.
